I have found some ancestors spelling the name as Barfield, Barefield and
Bearfield.

My GG GM, Julia Ann Hardy was born Barfield.  She lived in and raised her
family in Lineville, Ala.  For more data on her descendants, see the
Hardy page.  Her ancestors are as follows:

  he died in Campbell Cty, Ga and they 
  are buried at the Old Piney Woods Cemetery, also called Barfield Cem,
  in Fulton Cty Ga, near Palmetto, Ga on Kite Road near the Rico Community.
  It is described as being in back of the Smith Store out from Palmetto.

	The graves in the cemetery indicate:
	Jane Barfield 1831 to 4 April 1853, wife of John Barfield
	John Barfield  22 March 1788 to 27 December 1883
	Annie Parker Barfield  30 Sept 1806 to 26 January 1894 wife
		of John Barfield

Campbell County no longer exists but is now a part of Fulton County in the
greater Atlanta area.

His name has sometimes shown up as BEARFIELD.

He was first married to Phoebe Irwin (Todd) and then later to Annie Parker.

He served in the Ga Militia from Nov 21 1814 to Nov 8, 1815 and fought in the
war of 1812.

John and his family show up in the 1830 census in Jones Cty, Ga, page  436.

He shows up in the 1840 census in Campbell Cty, Ga, p 23.

The 1850 census for Campbell Cty Ga shows him in dwelling #71, family #71, 
page 407.

The 1860 census of Campbell Cty shows him in dwelling 420, family 389, page
240 on June 23, 1860.

The 1870 census of Campbell Cty shows him near the Cross Anchor District,
dwelling 1756, family 1756, page 107A on August 12, 1870.
