Elizabeth Roddy was the daughter of James Roddy and Lydia Russell.  Their 
ancestry and story is as follows:

Some background that appears to be related but not confirmed is:

A James Roddy born 1710 in Ireland arrived in Pennsylvania and is noted
in the first assessment list of Donegal Township, Lancaster Cty, Pa 1723,
which is now Dauphin Cty.  James Roddy removed to Iredell Cty, NC in 1753.

There was an Alexander Roddy and James Roddy in Township of Derry, Pa in 1744.

Alexander Roddy was married to Mary Candor and their children were:
		Rosanna Roddy married to John Montgomery
		Mary Roddy married Robert Cree
		James Roddy
		Samuel Roddy
		John Roddy, a revolutionary soldier who died at Valley Forge

Alexander Roddy, sr went to Spartanburg, Va where he died in 1786.  His sone
James Roddy owned the mill.

Colonel James Roddy had a brother named William Roddy.  James Roddy received
a land grant in Jefferson Cty, Tn (later Hamlin Cty)

(side note:  Lydia Russell was the daughter of Captain George Russell
(b  d April 1794) ggggg g-f and Elizabeth Russell ggggg g-m for whom 
the town of Russellville (Tn?)is named.)  George Russell fought in the 
Battle of Kings Mountain, a turning point in the War of the Revolution
(as per William's History:  Sevier's Campaign against the Indians (1782).
The children of George and Elizabeth Russell were:

The above James Roddy was first married to Catherine or Jane Chase (b 1766,
d 1799 in Washington Cty, Tenn).  Three children were born to James and
Catherine or Jane:

			Rachal Roddy

The children of James Roddy and Lydia Russell were:

				Elizabeth Wilson who lived at Lea Springs.

Colonel Roddy bought 500 acres from his father-in-law, George Russell, on 
Fall Creek, Tn.  This is the original site where the plantation home 
"Hayslope" was built by Colonel Roddy in 1785 (1774 - 1790) and located 
in Russellville (now in Hamblen Cty).

Judge Andrew Jackson (later President Andrew Jackson) was entertained
at Hayslope.

You shouldn't take your American Express card to Hayslope during the mid-
1800s because the numbers were too small to put on the card.  The prices
for board, beverages and lodging at Hayslope were listed as:

	Supper		 .09		Wine, 1/2 pt	 .10
	Lodging		 .06		corn or oats,gal .06
	brandy, 1/2 pt	 .08		hay for horse	 .06
	Whisky, 1/2 pt	 .06		pasturage per
	Cider, per qt	 .06			night	 .06

James Roddy is listed as a state senator in Tn in 1789 and a delegate from
Tenn to the First Continental Conrgress in 1784.
