Sallie Francis Owen (June 24,1846 to Jan 23, 1913)first married Robert
Creed, b 23 Nov 1866, d 7 March 1873, m in Clay County, Ala. Their
son, David John McDonald Creed was born in 1873 and word is that he
was 6 months old when the trip westward was made. David's son is
Henry Ervin Creed who was living (now deceased) at 510 McQuire St,
W. Monroe, La
Ervin was age 82 in 1985 and remembered riding bicycles with
my dad (Arnold Owen) at Hico when they were kids together. Ervin's
children are:
H E Creed, Jr
Walter Creed
Marvin Creed
Ferris Lee
Ervin remembers Sallie (his grandmother) saying that she
walked most of the way from Alabama with the ox team since
the wagons were so full. That would have been between 1870 and
1876 and Sallie would have been 23-29 years old at that time.
Sallie later married a Ganaway who turned up missing. They
had children named Jim, Allen and Gertrude who went to the
Colleen and Waco , Texas area.

By the time of the 18809 census, it appears that Sallie and Ganaway
had alread split. In that census, she is shown as living in the same
household as Nancy Owen as follows:

John C s 9 at home Ala Ga Ga
James T s 3
The above John C is probably David John McDonald Creed who was
born in about 1873 although that would make the above age off
by a couple of years. If the 1873 date is correct, that would
indicate that the Owen family left Alabama during or after 1873
based on his birth there.
Sallie later married Louis Barnett and lived near Hico, La. She
is buried at Henry Cemetary at Hico.
The 1900 census for Lincoln Parish, La, ward 6 shows:
